Touring the site marked for the project After long negotiations with the Nkamanzi Inner Council (Bandlancane) and the development committee, Swaziland Water Services Corporation (SWSC) has been officially allocated land to setup and erect structures for the Ecowater bottling plant. This was symbolized by an official cutting of the sod ceremony held on the 6th December 2009 at the site earmarked for the water purification and subsequent bottling, project. Present at the ceremony representing SWSC was the Managing Director, Peter Bhembe, managers from SWSC and other officers. The occasion was also honored by the presence of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Lutfo Dlamini, Nkamanzi Inner Council, former Army Commander, Fonono Dvube and the general community members. A number of speakers expressed their gratitude that the project was finally being implemented in the Nkamanzi area and being the first national bottling facility to be set in the country. The SWSC MD also expressed appreciation to the community and explained that a project of this nature implied job opportunities for the community, business opportunities for those in business and economic development to the community at large. The ‘indvuna’ for the area, also thanked the Development Committee for having entered into an agreement of this nature with SWSC. This, to SWSC, was an indication on how eager and appreciative the community was towards the project. The land allocated to SWSC is about one hectare for the bottling facilities, 1000sqm for the source intake at the top of the Mdzimba Mountain and access road to draw raw water from the source to the treatment plant. Now that the site has been secured, the construction of structures and pipelines is being undertaken by the Technical Team and once they are finished, the assembly and commissioning of the Treatment/Bottling/Packaging machinery will follow.
