Wednesday, 22 August, 2018 – A group of ten students from different schools around the country had the most fulfilling and empowering week at Swaziland Water Services Corporation which ended on a high note with the Managing Director Peter Bhembe imploring them to fall big and not be afraid to explore new opportunities.
The students received the empowering message after enduring an exciting week-long on the job training within different departments at SWSC courtesy of the long standing relationship between SWSC and Junior Achievements. Through this partnership, the students were afforded an opportunity to have a hands-on experience of the workplace specifically a feel of their intended career aspirations. They were attached within the Quality Assurance, Finance and Technical Services Department.
The working relationship between SWSC and JA Eswatini has been instrumental in exposing a lot of students to various career options, with SWSC making a provision for a certain number of students every financial year to get an on the job experience. This initiative is part and parcel of SWSC’s Social Corporate Responsibility under training and education. Its purpose is to bridge the gap between the classroom setting and workplace environment, guiding the students to make wiser career decisions upon completing their high school education.
The MD also challenged the students to always be assertive as assertiveness is a key trait for leaders and leaders always aspire to make a difference in life. Echoing the MD`s words, JA Phetsile Masilela encouraged the students not to take this opportunity lightly, as it has positioned them on the right footing to make wise career decisions. She expressed her gratitude to SWSC for the unrelenting support.
