Latest News – Eswatini Water Services Corporation Board of Director`s Projects Familiarization Tour

Wednesday, 16 January, 2019 – Eswatini Water Services Corporation Board of Directors and Management embarked and concluded a two day elaborate projects familiarization tour aimed at reflecting on the work the Corporation has accomplished over the years and ongoing projects.

The nine member Board of Directors is fully responsible for the implementation of EWSC`s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan which stands as a road map that defines the Corporation strategic focus areas, strategic objectives , desired outcomes as well as action plans. With the Board steering and overseeing the implementation of the Strategy which includes projects implementation, the familiarization tour gave them a deeper appreciation of EWSC`s status on water and sanitation projects and the degree of investments on facilities such as the Siyalu House (South West Regional Offices) in Nhlangano.

On the first day of the tour, the Board got an appreciation of EWSC`s footprint in the Shiselweni and Lubombo Region. Under the Shiselweni Region, places that were visited include the 30 megalitre Nhlangano Water Treatment Plant, Nhlangano Wastewater Treatment Plant ( under construction) and SISOMA Water Project specifically the Lavumisa Water Treatment Plant. In the Lubombo Region the Simunye Water Treatment plant was toured and an area earmarked for the construction of the East Regional Offices in Sikhuphe.

The second leg of the tour covered EWSC`s footprint in the Manzini and Hhohho Region and areas that were visited include Matsapha Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Ezulwini Treatment Plant, Woodlands Water Treatment Plant and EWSC staff housing at Eveni.

Overall the tour provided insightful information and prepared the Board for the road ahead as there is still a lot of work to be done to accelerate EWSC vision for the future.
